Hello, I am Ana
Seasoned project manager. Parent. Expat residing in Lisbon, Portugal.
A few years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to Portugal wasn't in the long-range plan. As with many international relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far greater.
The early months were demanding — unfamiliar processes, routines, and expectations. Daily tasks seemed tougher than they needed to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, doubt, and plenty of learning on the fly. Yet, over time, our routines took shape. We found spots that suited us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt secure.
Why I Built GentleStoneFork
Most online information fell into either corporate relocation guidance or bland tourism content. What was missing was a sincere, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in Portugal.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in Portugal
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated when something truly changes
This site isn't:
- A tourism-board resource
- Sponsored review platform
- A generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our time in Portugal goes on, and the learning process continues as well. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Lisbon or anywhere in Portugal, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Ana
